Bilingual PR/Media Relations Specialist

Our 10-year-old Internet company, a recognized leader in the field of online diversity employment and recruiting, is seeking a public relations specialist who will be responsible for developing media and public relations opportunities for LatPro, including press releases, interview opportunities, speaking engagements and placement of original articles.

To succeed in our fun but fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, the candidate must be a self-motivated professional with the exceptional organizational skills necessary to juggle multiple priorities and demands. This is a very self-directed position, so you must have the experience and drive to independently determine needs, prioritize tasks and achieve goals.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • EXPERIENCE IN PUBLIC RELATIONS IS REQUIRED
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations or a related field required
  • Demonstrated success in increasing media coverage
  • Comfortable approaching mainstream and Hispanic media outlets, establishing relationships and pitching stories
  • Expert knowledge of MS Office
  • Advanced Internet knowledge and research capabilities
  • Expert English Communication and Writing Skills
  • Familiarity with HTML and/or Dreamweaver (for maintaining online news archive)
  • Spanish and/or Portuguese fluency a plus


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Write attention-grabbing, newsworthy press releases that generate media coverage.
  • Write articles, Q&As, press kits and other communications as necessary
  • Create copy for Web sites and email communications, including direct email announcements.
  • Analyze proprietary company data to uncover trends and discover newsworthy angles for articles and press releases
  • Maintain updated media contact list for mainstream and Hispanic media outlets; Research and identify key media outlets to target and pitch stories.
  • Cultivate relationships with reporters covering minority careers and diversity employment issues; identify other relationship-building opportunities
  • Research industry information and trends; Accountable for fact checking and acquiring accurate information and statistics to support news releases and articles.
  • Maintain a current and ongoing archive of all articles published about the company
  • Distribute press releases to the appropriate agencies and online services (PR Newswire, HR Marketer, etc.)
  • Upload and manage news coverage, press releases, newsletters and various communications materials on the corporate Web site
  • Identify and facilitate opportunities for interviews, speaking engagements and other public relations opportunities.
  • Related administrative work to support the PR function.
