  • Al Quintana has been appointed by Burson-Marsteller, a leading global public relations and communications consultancy, as chairman of its U.S. Hispanic Practice.
  • Felix Ortiz, a New York State Assemblyman, has been chosen as the new president of the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators (NHCSL).

Senate Passes Cafta; Companies Await House Decision
U.S. companies, fresh off a victory in the Senate for the Central American Free Trade Agreement, are now calling on the House of Representatives to bring closure to more than a year of debate and approve the trade accord.


Central American leaders discuss security
Central American leaders discussed the creation of a regional special forces unit to fight drug trafficking, gang violence and possible terrorism within their shared borders. The unit would be the latest step in a plan that includes opening borders from Nicaragua to Guatemala and creating one common passport.
