Hispanic marketing agency PMG Inc. has split into two separate divisions: one that will focus on teaching corporations how to reach Hispanic consumers and another that will specialize in developing Hispanic marketing strategies through event planning.


Univision Profit Up, Sees Sale Closing in First Quarter
Univision Communications Corp. reported a high quarterly profit; the Spanish-language broadcaster continues to benefit from a strong advertising market for the U.S. Hispanic community.


US Immigrants sending more money back home
Latin American immigrants working in the United States will send $45 billion to their countries in 2006, up from approximately $30 billion in 2004, according to a report released by the Inter-American Development Bank.

  • Cathy Areu will be joining the Oxygen Network as its new headline news “vlogger,” hosting a daily video blog on the woman’s network. She is a contributing editor for the Washington Post Magazine and the owner of CATALINA, a multimedia company catering to Latinas.


  • David Lizarraga will resume his position as board of directors chairman for the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), the leading advocate for the more than two million Hispanic-owned businesses in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Ortega Wins Nicaraguan Election, Early Count Shows
Daniel Ortega, the Sandinista guerrilla leader who ran Nicaragua in the 1980s, regained power by winning the Central American country's presidential election, an early count of the votes showed.

Mexican leader assails border fence plan
Ahead of a meeting with President Bush, Mexican President-elect Felipe Calderon is acknowledging his unhappiness with U.S. border security measures, saying the two countries need "bridges for progress and not walls that isolate and divide."
