Minority Report: FDNY Recruiting Adds Color
After a $2.4 million recruitment campaign designed to increase diversity in the Fire Department, New York City officials have received 7,850 minority applicants. Going forward, $1.4 million will be permanently set aside for recruitment efforts annually.

• David Lizarraga will resume his position as board of directors chairman for the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), the leading advocate for the more than two million Hispanic-owned businesses in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Ortega Wins Nicaraguan Election, Early Count Shows
Daniel Ortega, the Sandinista guerrilla leader who ran Nicaragua in the 1980s, regained power by winning the Central American country's presidential election, an early count of the votes showed.
