Description |
FUNCTION
The Basic Needs Social Worker provides comprehensive, seamless support and service to Davis Street Family Resource Center. Is responsible for the day to day functions of the Basic Needs Department and works as a member of an agency integrated team providing short and long terms services to low income residents. Works in collaboration with other external providers associated with clients served to ensure coordination among agency services and seamless service delivery. Provides direct supervision to agency's MSW Interns, provides family advocacy, conducts community outreach and assists in program development strategies that reflect the needs of the community. Develops and maintains collaborations with student liaisons to ensure communication and student placements. Accurately and professionally ascertains the needs of our clients, provides services to DSFRC clients that resonates with dignity and respect and effectively communicates the needs of clients on an ongoing basis. Reports to the Executive Director is responsible for producing monthly statistical and program reports.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The Basic Needs Social Worker is responsible for the management of program's day to day activities that include:
Program Oversight:
Supervise MSW interns that includes training and performance evaluations
Responsible for tracking services rendered client outcomes and feedback to produce accurate data reporting and responsive services.
Participate in inter-agency planning meetings, improve existing service delivery and develop case management services.
Develop collaborative relationships with community groups and agencies to better serve clients.
Ensure coordination of services and provide follow through.
Work with MSW training program liaisons to ensure program compliance with University standards
Comply with clinical and administrative quality assurance standards set forth by multiple funding sources.
In conjunction with the Executive Director plan and develop program activities and community needs assessments.
Ensure contract deliverables are met and reports are submitted accurately and on time
Work as a liaison to community partners and the general public
Maintain current information on available resources as well as necessary processes for accessing services
Demonstrate ability to accept other tasks as assigned by supervisor and to maintain flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends.
Prepare weekly and monthly service reports.
Direct Service:
Provide direct service to clients, assessing strengths and levels of functioning to develop client centered and/or family focused personal plans.
Facilitate and practice follow up procedures with all clients.
Provide outreach and engagement to clients who have been identified as having a high need.
Assist clients in navigating multiple social service systems.
Accurately maintain client records and written reports.
Advocate for families to increase access to services.
Direct clients to proper departments, provide resource and referrals, and provide ongoing case management.
Demonstrate skills in conflict resolution and crisis management.
Present program overview as needed

Requirements |
REQUIREMENTS
The Basic Needs Social Worker must have the ability to organize resources, record and report data, provide support for interns and clients on a day-to-day basis and exhibit administrative skills to assist in the tracking and reporting of client feedback. Strong written and verbal skills, knowledge of diverse populations and the desire to provide comprehensive client support are requirements. Some weekend and evening work will be required to accommodate program and clients.
MSW or LCSW required and preferred two years relevant experience
Knowledge of working with low income communities
Knowledge of community resources
Demonstrated ability to listen attentively and empathically
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with diverse groups of people
Proven experience in working cooperatively and communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals and agencies representing varying perspectives
Ability to multitask
Proven attention to detail with excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrate ability to provide reflective and constructive supervision to first and second year MSW interns
Demonstrate skills in working with clients in a comprehensive and respectful manner.
Demonstrate professionalism in regards to demeanor, punctuality and overall functioning within the position
Ability to build collaborative relationships and interface with other programs
Computer skills including Excel, Outlook, Word and Access
Ability to travel
Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred
Valid CA license
Other duties as needed
This is a regular full-time position. Salary range and benefits are established by the DSFRC Board of Directors and are applicable to this position.
