Benefits Compliance is responsible for maintaining legal compliance of all employee welfare and retirement plans, including complying with all benefit plan reporting, testing, documentation, and disclosures required for governmental agencies.

Essential Functions:

Conducts root cause analysis on compliance matters. Partners with Defined Benefit/Defined Contribution Operations and Health and Welfare on compliance remediation. Provides guidance on mandatory filings, mailings, and non-discrimination testing. Responsible for review of legal and recordkeeping invoices to insure accuracy, adherence to the budget, and support forecasting needs. Performs proper allocation of trust-chargeable fees. Responds to legal requests for documentation. Develops standard templates for reporting purposes as appropriate. Additional duties may include project management responsibilities across multiple functions, for various initiatives such as design changes or required collective bargaining changes. Support retirement function on trend analyses (participant behavior, such as defined contribution history, optional form choices, etc.).

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

- Minimum: Eight (8) - twelve (12) years of overall human resources experience, including a minimum five (5) years of benefits experience
- Preferred: Eight (8) - twelve (12) years of benefits experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field
- Graduate degree preferred
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist or Certified Benefits Professional preferred
- Paralegal certification preferred
- Expert knowledge of benefits practices and regulations/legislation (for example, ERISA), required
- Knowledge of benefits practices in large organizations and especially for represented populations preferred
- Knowledge of health care industry preferred
