Description

The Houston Dynamo Marketing Department is seeking candidates to fill the position of Hispanic Grassroots Marketing Intern. This exciting position will offer the selected individuals the opportunity to experience the numerous aspects of a professional sports organization. He/she will gain valuable experience in the fast-paced world of sports through the execution of grassroots events in the Greater Houston Area with special emphasis in the Hispanic community. Qualified applicants will either have or be pursuing a bachelor's degree in marketing or sport management. Ability to read and write in Spanish and previous experience with a professional sports team or event marketing is a plus. The ability to work nights/weekends, game days, and a clean driving record is essential. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist with all game day events and activities. Support all Hispanic Marketing initiatives, campaigns, programs, events and appearances, etc. Research niche community and stay up to date on community calendar Aid in the implementation of new creative methods of outreach and write follow-up reportsSUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company. Set-up of Game Day booths and activities Set-up and attend Hispanic Marketing events Assist other Dynamo departments as needed SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Must commit to work all Dynamo home games plus Dynamo special events Must be able to work a minimum of 3 days a week, 20 hours per week Excellent writing, telephone, communication and inter-personal skills Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish (preferably) Duties Include: Marketing Research & Planning (60%)Research niche community and stay up to date on community calendarWork directly with the Hispanic Grassroots Marketing Manager to plan and execute events.Support all Hispanic Marketing initiatives, campaigns, programs, events and appearances, etc. Event execution (25%) Transport Houston Dynamo vehicles, staff, players, merchandise, equipment and other items to and from event. Set-up all elements at event site including collateral, Dynamo merchandise, interactive elements (DPS, Inflatables, etc.), giveaways, and sponsor items. Act as Dynamo liaison with outside Event Contact to ensure event runs smoothly. Create environment at each event that exposes the Dynamo and support sponsors' brands accurately. Go out to the community and pass out flyers for upcoming games and events.Customer Service & Follow-up (15%) Be knowledgeable of the Houston Dynamo schedule, players, and other information and events. Ability to answer phones and make follow up calls to various organizations Other various duties as assigned Minimum Requirements: Candidates must receive college credit and provide proof of school enrollment and internship credit in order to participate in our internship program. Candidates must also have a willingness to learn Computer skills with proficiency using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) are preferred
