FINRA is seeking a well-qualified individual for our Business Analyst/Sr. Specialist opening in New York, NY. To be considered for this position, please submit your resume through our career site at - no phone calls, please.

Major Purpose:

Participation in projects associated with the surveillance-monitoring infrastructure, coordination of DMM and floor broker-related issues, oversight requests, and review/analysis of technology utilized within the Member Trading area.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinate with Member Regulation Examination teams on behalf of the Member Trading for DMM and floor broker related issues, including examination and other requests.
  • Participation in projects associated with the Surveillance Monitoring infrastructure, including coordinating with MRD management and Technology to develop and maintain the Surveillance Monitoring Infustructure, Surveillance Notification System and other related functions.
  • Coordinate with Directors in connection with updating the Surveillance Master Chart and other related control and operational functions.
  • Analyzing existing and new NYSE/NYSE Amex and SEC rule requirements and trading systems operations to determine impact to surveillance monitoring and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in reviews of trading systems, applications and analytical tools and assess the impact of those changes on the regulatory and surveillance program.
  • Explore new and innovative technologies and identify potential uses for them.
  • Coordinate with Regulatory Audit, Internal Audit, SEC and other parties to address areas of oversight.
  • Responsible for coordinating the implementation of audit recommendations as they relate to surveillances, procedures, coordination, internal controls and other areas.
  • Assist in responding to inquiries from the Securities and Exchange Commission.
  • Assist in drafting internal policies and procedures.

Other Responsibilities:

  • As needed, perform analysis of trading activity to detect possible violation of rules, policies and procedures as needed.
  • Compile and review data and documents to prepare analysis of possible rule violations for review by manager and director.


Requirements

Education/Experience Requirements:

Business Analyst III - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. Minimum three years experience in brokerage community dealing in security analysis, compliance, and operations and/or securities law. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and demonstrated analytical skills. In addition, a working knowledge of a variety of software applications (e.g., Excel, Word) and database querying tools (i.e., BRIO, SQL) is a plus. Ability to prioritize and complete multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously. Ability to solve problems and think creatively. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information handled. Ability to work beyond regular business hours, as required.

Business Analyst Specialist- Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent. Minimum of seven (7) years of directly related experience in positions of increasing responsibilities. Experience must include medium to large-scale program experience. Knowledge of personal computers and associated office automation tools. Excellent communication and writing skills. Ability to communicate and interact at both senior and junior levels of the organization.

Sr. Specialist - Advanced degree in computer science or equivalent, with 10 years of related experience. Experience can be substituted for an advanced degree and a minimum of 7 years experience. Has full technical knowledge of all phases of systems analysis and programming. Has excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of finance and capital markets, including equities, options, and other derivatives is a strong plus.
