Description

Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated Field Research Associates for current and future openings, who have the ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary Research Team. The Research Associate will primarily be responsible for supporting the activities of a comprehensive breeding program. 
 
The Field Research Associate will have the opportunity to support the breeder in coordinating various variety performance trails, assisting site breeders with their nurseries, implementing and administering Standard Operating Procedures, QA QC and safety procedures.  This is an excellent opportunity to work with leading edge technology and talented cross functional scientists seeking to deliver the very best crop genetics.

Requirements

Required Skills/Experience:
MS in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, or related field of study  or BS and at least 3 years of appropriate work experience within a Plant Breeding environment
Familiarity with breeding and research methodologies
Knowledge of crop production, farming practices, and farm equipment operation and repair
Knowledge of basic statistics and experimental design principles.
Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary/multicultural research team
Self-starter with team leadership skills including excellent organizational and record keeping skills and the ability to foster a positive team environment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to travel overnight for off site trails
Strong computer skills related to data acquisition, organization, and data analysis.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
 
Desired Skills/Experience
MS in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, or related field of study  or BS and at least 5 years of appropriate work experience within a Plant Breeding environment
Experience as a people manager to enable management of day-to-day program operations.
Broad knowledge of crop production and farming practices.
Ability to accurately forecast/manage budgets.
Three or more years experience as a people manager.
Class A CDL or have the ability to obtain one.
The ability to lift 60 lbs.
