Summary: Jeppesen receives aeronautical source documents from world-wide government sources. A large number of these source documents are in the country-of-origin's native language. The majority of the documents and navigation charts are in Spanish and Portuguese although Jeppesen also receives source material in a variety of other languages.
The ideal candidate will have both aeronautical and foreign language translation experience. The selected candidate will translate the host countries source data from Spanish and Portuguese to English. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to read aeronautical text and navigation charts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Make corrections on assigned charts as prescribed by NGA utilizing ArcGIS Aero PLTS software suite
Submit support requests as required to report software bugs/issues to ESRI
Performs verification of updates and quality control on charts
Creates images of revised electronic design files and creates paper plot of those images.
Performs self-edits on revised electronic design files and entities maintained in the database, as directed
Makes designated corrections noted against the revised electronic design file and database
Creates final images and transfers images to NGA
Receives technical direction, training and guidance from Level Three (3) & Four (4), senior positions, as required or requested
Performs other related duties, including special projects, as requested or required

Requirements |
Education/Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, Aeronautical Science or other related field of study
Fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese
Commercial Pilot certificate and/or Instrument rating, or Flight Dispatcher certificate is desired
Three (3) or more years of related and equivalent experience. A combination of aviation experience and cartography experience including previous work with Enroute or Terminal charts is highly desired
Demonstrated ability to perform detail oriented tasks
Demonstrated effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills
Knowledge and Skills:
Familiarity with aeronautical terminology and symbology on aeronautical navigation charts
Strong written and verbal communication skills required
Must have excellent grammar and spelling in English, Spanish and Portuguese
Strong technical skills, able to translate documents and navigation charts from Spanish and Portuguese to English
Applicant must have an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to operate Microsoft Office Applications
Demonstrated knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) desired
Experience using ESRI ArcGIS software suite is preferred
Demonstrated proficiency using ISO documentation for ISO 9000:2001 procedures
Ability to work in a high performance team environment is required
Ability to identified aviation related items from a pre compose image
Ability to accurately identified changes between multiple pieces of source
Must be a U.S. person
