MercyFirst seeks to hire bi-lingual, Spanish speaking Youth Support Counselors, who reflect the diversity of communities we serve.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the supervision of the Program Manager and the Youth Support Counselor II, the Youth Support Counselor I (YSC) supervises clients, provides a safe and secure environment and applies Agency approved methods of behavior modification, including the behavior modification system, the point system, verbal de-escalation techniques and physical intervention. Shifts/sites assigned vary and change according to Agency needs.
YSCs supervise residents' attendance/participation at structured activities (i.e. school, study, hour, recreation, chores and meals). This includes trips in the community and driving our vehicles. YSCs report behaviors believed to by symptomatic or emotional, physical or psychological disturbances in written log entries, staff meetings, treatment team meetings, supervisory meetings and/or to the Administrator on Duty (AOD).
It is our responsibility to demonstrate appropriate behavior for the residents. We all need to be mindful of our own behavior. We are all responsible for using appropriate language, refraining from cursing, following established rules, policies and procedures and following the dress code.
