Description

Job Description: The University of Houston-Clear Lake invites applications and nominations for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Bilingual/ESL Education starting fall 2013. Major responsibilities include: (1) teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in bilingual and ESL education (2) scholarly activities emphasizing research and publication (3) advising and supervising students in a variety of settings (4) supervising masters projects, theses and dissertations (5) providing leadership in curriculum and program development, and (6) service to the university, to professional organizations and, to local communities. Education/Experience Type: Candidates must have a doctorate degree with primary emphasis in bilingual/ESL education or a related area. Exceptional ABD candidates will receive consideration. Teacher license with a minimum of three years teaching experience in a bilingual/ESL setting in public schools or related settings is required. Required skills and capabilities include: knowledge and skills to teach courses in bilingual and ESL education including foundational, theoretical and pedagogical courses: a record of research, scholarly publications, and grant writing or a clear potential for success in these areas; and excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
