The Functional Analyst System Development (Defined Benefits) is responsible for writing technical specifications, performing analysis, configuring and testing the pension administration system based on functional requirements. System development involves using mainframe and/or graphical user interface tools to design and implement code or fix a system defect.
Responsibility Areas
* For assigned project, completes one of the following: (1) creates analysis documents and/or functional requirements, (2) performs configuration (3) or tests a fix to a system defect or complete a client request/change on a variety of administration systems including but not limited to calculation engines, web, communications, and data platforms.
* Execution of test plan (including regression testing) is done by identifying/creating test participants and performing calculations for expected results. Determines if configuration performs accurately, reflects requirements, and has zero negative impact to existing provisions.
* Documents, analyzes and debugs defects when actual results do not meet expected results.
Knowledge & Experience
* Basic knowledge of pension plan provisions and administration
* Knowledge of system testing and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
* Experience with project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, etc.
* Interpret and understand conditional statements (i.e., If/Then/Else).
* Apply basic relational database concepts (e.g., table relationships, keys).
* Knowledge of and ability to write basic system queries.
* Troubleshoot basic system defects and errors.
* Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
* Ability to interpret and understand typical functional requirements documentation.
* Demonstrated competence with basic event flow configuration and testing.
* Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
* Experience drafting/reviewing technical requirements.
Technical skills
* Visual Basic / XML / SQL experience.
* Crystal Reports (plus).
* Proficient to advance in Microsoft Excel and Word.
