OR Transfer Opportunity: Candidates must have permanent status as a Licensed Psychologist, and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be a permanent New York State employee eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. In addition, you must be licensed and currently registered to practice psychology in New York State. OR Temporary Appointment: Licensed Psychologist is a continuous recruitment examination. Candidates who are not on the eligible list may apply for this position and if appointed, will receive a temporary appointment. Candidates who have not submitted a New York State Application (http://w.cs.ny.gov/extdocs/pdf/nysapp.pdf) to the Office of Mental Health for scoring must complete the application and submit to the Office of Mental Health (Decentralized Exam Unit, 44 Holland Avenue, Albany, NY 129). Candidates appointed temporary must receive a score that is reachable on the resulting eligible list before they can be permanently appointed. Candidates who are found not qualified or who do not receive a reachable score may not be retained. You must be licensed and currently registered to practice psychology in New York State. To be appointed to a Spanish Language position, you must be proficient in English and must also demonstrate proficiency in the Spanish Language. Proficiency must be at a level which will allow you to perform the duties of the position properly. Duties DescriptionAs a Licensed Psychologist (Spanish Language), you would supervise and/or provide professional psychological services. In addition to assessment and treatment, your duties may include: clinical leadership; program management; forensic or court-ordered assessment, treatment and expert testimony; psychological services requiring expertise in neuropsychology, child and adolescent psychology, geropsychology, sex offense treatment, cognitive rehabilitation, trauma, and substance and/or chemical abuse programs; specialized assessment (functional, personality, risk, competency, vocational, education); design and application of behavioral technology and other specialized psychological interventions; individual, group or family therapy; crisis intervention; consultation to other agencies; training; and peer review. You may also perform the following duties: supervise psychological services provided by clinical staff and non-licensed psychology staff; evaluate information from mental health units, probation, parole, district attorneys offices, etc.; assist in determining the need for admission to a secure treatment facility or release to strict and intensive community supervision and treatment; develop, review, and oversee behavior management plans and/or treatment plans; and develop and conduct psychology-related training for all levels of direct care and clinical staff.
