Sodexo Senior Living is seeking an Executive Chef for an upscale continuing care retirement community in Whiting, New Jersey. The Executive Chef at this community will be involved with and responsible to manage the daily operations of the kitchen, implement production processes, provide oversight to catering events, properly manage food and labor costs and have a through working understanding of HACCP, all to exceed resident and client expectations. Best qualified candidate possesses excellent leadership and communication skills. It will be required that this position be hands on during resident and client functions to produce outstanding and high quality food and dining experiences.
The Executive Chef will have skills to develop menus for all dining events and areas inclusive of bistro dining venues and provide training to the sous chef and culinary staff. The ability to handle multiple priorities is helpful.
Reporting to the General Manager, the ideal candidate for this position will have experience respectfully supervising and supporting the production functions of kitchen staff, the ability to motivate employees to continually improve performance and outcomes with a passion for preparing and executing outstanding dining experiences. The adherence to proper food handling and proper safety programs is critical to success.
Experience in health care / retirement community / country club /fine dining is ideal. The typical shift will be 10:00am - 7:00pm, will vary and will work alternating weekends. Working knowledge of web based programs is needed to be successful.

Designs, supervises, coordinates and participates in activities of cooks and other kitchen personnel in a medium to large account. This position is recognized as the technical expert, teacher and trainer for other chefs and cooks within the account. Selects and develops recipes and other items for clients. Develops menu, implements and trains HACCP, oversees/purchases food, establishes production levels and inventory controls, interviews and hires new chefs, manages/controls food cost issues and offer solutions, may train other chefs outside account. May cook selected items, and plan or price menus. Typically has chefs and cooks reporting to this position.
Basic Education Requirement - Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
Sodexo will require a background check and may require a drug screen for this position.
