Job Description Position Title: Spanish Role Player Dates: 13-Nov -29 march 2013 Job Description Location- : NC Training Objectives. This is weekly small-group instruction. Students of varying ability levels may be present. The goal of the above training is to improve student ability in speaking, listening, and reading proficiencies, as well as student scores on the OPI and/or DLPT. Where practicable, testing will occur after training to measure student proficiency and effectiveness of training. A practical test will be administered in very low level classes to assess survival skills. Instructors should track student progress by assessing speaking and comprehension skills on a monthly basis. Students will take DLPT or OPI after sustained training events, if within allowable window. - At levels assessed at 0+ or below, concentration on survival skills and skills measurable on practical exam (introducing oneself, describing self, family, profession, ability to count and name common objects, give/understand simple directions, nationalities, telling time). - At levels assessed near 1 - 1+, focus is on speaking with sufficient grammar explanation/exposure to allow students to move to connecting thoughts with compound sentences, vocabulary to allow broader descriptions of terrain, weather, simple past and future events, ordering/describing food, statement of problems/challenges. - At levels assessed near 2, focus is on broadening vocabulary to include support of opinion, more accurate use of past and future tense, speaking and comprehending paragraphs. Understanding native speakers in differing dialects and varying speeds of delivery, output understood more readily. Listening/Reading comprehension exercises to be used in view of DLPT, utilizing real-world texts and audio. Students speaking exercises should require extemporaneous discourse, as well as planned presentations requiring research on their part. - At levels near 3, reading, listening and writing should support speaking. Exposure to higher level texts and audio should challenge students (both native and non-native speakers to use suggestion, persuasion, nuance and tailoring of language. Output should be near professional level, with some return to emphasis on grammar, punctuation, and appropriate form. - Instructions to Offerors. The contractor shall provide all language instructor personnel and services necessary to conduct training in support of MISOC Regiment. Instruction shall be conducted in the above languages, at the levels as described. Instruction required varies from pre-deployment survival training to intermediate and advanced refresher maintenance training. Ability to teach at different proficiency levels is required. Instructors must be able to assess small group proficiency, and move group forward in task-based instructional style. - Training material should consist largely of real-world documents and audio, instructors will have assigned preparation time within the hours listed and access to commercial internet and copy machine.
