Responsibilities Responsible to the Assistant Director for Multicultural Recruitment for carrying out the details of multicultural student recruitment program. Duties 1. Aggressively seek, qualify and follow-up on assigned multicultural prospects, giving special emphasis to personalization and frequency of contact. Prioritized attention to Hispanic prospects. 2. Attend college fair programs and conduct high school visits which have a high concentration of Multicultural students. Attend local college bilingual college fairs. 3. Utilize computer capabilities to monitor multicultural prospects and progress of assigned multicultural applicants, making sure to keep Assistant Director, Director of Admissions and Director of Multicultural Student Development updated. 4. Initiate, plan, and implement activities and events to increase the awareness of Wheaton College in Spanish speaking communities giving special attention to churches. 5. Establish and cultivate good relationships with leaders in the Spanish speaking communities through mailings and personal visits. 6. Support the BRIDGE program and BRIDGE coordinator as needed. Collaborate with Admissions to provide shared recruitment with BRIDGE for Hispanic and Chicago urban recruiting. 7. Plan and implement out-of-state recruitment travel to areas with larger concentrations of Hispanic populations 8. Provide initial evaluation of assigned multicultural applicants, forwarding them to the second reader. 9. Speak with parents and applicants by phone as they call and reach out to Spanish speaking parents regarding procedure, credentials, status of application, admissions decisions and translation support as able. 10. Make recommendations to the Director of Admissions regarding the admissibility of multicultural applicants, serving as an advocate for them in the decision making process. 11. Establish and maintain Spanish language admissions web pages. Making suggestions for additional key information directed to parents of applicants. 12. Identify and recommend applicants for the Burr Scholarship and high need financial assistance. 13. Establish and maintain a procedure manual for minority recruitment. 14. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications 1. Bachelor-Ts degree 2. Fluency in conversational Spanish, competency in written formal Spanish. 3. Experience working with multicultural constituents 4. Strong communication, organizational and decision-making skills 5. Creative, self-motivated, able to manage multiple tasks 6. Valid driver-Ts license with clean driving record 7. A credit check will be performed Updated 4/13
