Job Summary:

The Lead Developer, working independently, will develop, test, debug and document software components commensurate with their experience as well as direct development staff in support of a software engineering

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop, test, debug and document software components; design and analyze large, massively parallel data architectures using Netezza data appliance and IBM DataStage in Oracle environment.
  • Use knowledge of financial markets/equity trading regulatory data analysis, design and development/implementation to serve as technical subject matter expert.
  • Serve as the primary designer for complex component designs using knowledge of full software development cycle, including range of development methodologies from Waterfall to AGILE
  • Build, test, deploy and document complex software components.
  • Use PostgreSQL on Netezza data appliance.
  • Perform Oracle/SQL optimization in large data feed environment (multiple terabytes per day and petabyte data warehouse).
  • Provide DataStage processing on multi parallel terabytes per day level
  • Create software engineering strategies that help identify and mitigate risks.
  • Lead other team members in peer review of code and identify re-usable frameworks
  • Interface with other team members and other teams in peer review of requirements, specifications and software
  • Document and communicate development status in a timely manner including metric reporting; champion the collaborative resolution of defects
  • Direct internal process improvement initiative and provide feedback on processes by offering suggestions, participate in external process improvement committees as a Development representative.
  • Provide backup coverage for Delivery Lead
  • Assist with adherence to technology policies and comply with all security controls and ensure all work products meets/exceeds FINRA standards.


Requirements

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) as well as 5 years of Java, scripting and enterprise database development experience.
  • Experience must include: financial markets/equity trading regulatory data analysis, design and development/implementation; large, massively parallel data architectures design/analysis using Neteeza data appliance, Oracle, and IBM DataStage processing multiple terabytes daily; full software development cycle, including range of development methodologies from Waterfall to AGILE; Oracle/SQL optimization in large data feed environment (multiple terabytes per day and petabyte data warehouse); Postgres SQL on Neteeza data appliance; and DataStage processing on multi parallel terabytes per day level.
