The American Diabetes Association Western NY office, seeks a highly motivated and accomplished Associate Director of Corporate Development, who will work closely with the Director, to expand and strengthen its base of support and lead corporate sponsorship for our high profile fundraising events, including walks and bicycling events, and for our community based program activities. This exciting opportunity is available for a motivated individual to join a nationwide organization with a mission that affects the lives of more than 23.6 million Americans who have diabetes and another 57 million who are at risk for developing the disease.
The selected candidate will report to the Director of WNY and work closely with that Director, Event Managers and the Director of Mission Delivery to identify, recruit, and engage executive-level volunteers that drive corporate support. Specific responsibilities will be to: maximize the corporate support of current sponsors, identify, solicit and close new sponsorship opportunities and corporate teams, develop high level volunteer executive leadership teams and chairs for our four fundraising events.
This individual will have experience with executive-level volunteer recruitment and engagement, corporate sponsorship and cause marketing, and corporate employee engagement in friends-asking-friends fundraising campaigns. The candidate must have the ability to cross-sell programs and events. The candidate will lead by example in volunteer management, soliciting major corporate partners and sponsors and driving significant growth in revenue. The current direct financial responsibility for this individual is $200,000 while contributing to the overall $523,000 market goal and being a major force in growing the market to $1 million by 2015.
The Associate Director of Development must be a polished and sophisticated with excellent interpersonal skills, able to relate to a broad range of internal and external constituencies. Strong writing skills and public speaking abilities are key. * Candidates must know how to confirm mutual understandings, close the deal, and manage volunteers to successful outcomes. * Must pay close attention to details and be able to manage multiple activities * Proven donor cultivation and solicitation experience and persuasive presentation skills * Strong writing proficiency in conjunction with excellent time management capability * Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed implementation deadlines and fundraising goals * Sound interpersonal and team coordination skills with demonstrated ability to listen and evaluate opinions, suggestions and recommendations of others.
* Bachelor's degree; advanced degree is a plus * Five or more years of experience in development or sales with knowledge of corporate giving and superior writing, oral communication and interpersonal skills * Demonstrated major corporate sponsorship sales experience in Buffalo strongly preferred * Aggressive sales mentality with the ability to provide strategic leadership * Experience in the Greater Buffalo NY area a plus * Ability to coordinate and collaborate with team members * Knowledge of fundraising databases, i.e retrieving and analyzing information to advance fundraising efforts * Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and related software * Able to develop a strong presence in the community through effective networking, planning and execution of fundraising strategies. * Must be able to continually engage volunteer leadership in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship * Demonstrated results in developing strategic partnerships; and advanced skills in project management and budget * S/he will provide leadership and strategic direction in designing and implementing a plan to ensure the American Diabetes Association regional office reaches its annual and strategic fundraising goals. * Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends * Ability to lift 25 pounds
