MA, Medical Assistant - Bilingual The person in this position is part of the team concept in a pediatric clinic. Must enjoy working with children. Be flexible to work as an Administrative/Clerical and clinical medical assistant. Job Duties: Administrative and clerical medical assistants require medical knowledge, organization and business skills to perform duties such as: Scheduling appointments and greeting visitors, checking patients in and out, maintaining medical records filing/updating/record-keeping, interpret for the clinical staff when necessary, "Spanish/English" Be prepared to take walk-ins at any time during working hours. Answer multiple phone lines and be able to multi-task. Clinical Medical Assistants perform back office or clerical duties such as: Assisting during physical examinations, maintaining treatment rooms and sterilizing instruments, performing ECG's, obtaining vital signs (i.e. take and record height, weight, and blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration and temperature) Note brief history or the reason for a visit in the patient's charts. Assist the clinical staff in completing examination and procedures as instructed Completely fill out label slips and other forms when necessary Follow universal precautions to protect self and patients Stock exam rooms with supplies Any other duties or responsibilities the clinical staff may assign from time to time and when the need arises Ability to relate to the public regardless of racial ethnic and economic status Job requires assisting provider in administrating immunizations to children. Will train on how to hold children, must be willing to assist with task Qualifications, Education, and Experience: Must have thorough education or training in the basics of medical terminology Must have high school diploma or equivalent Bilingual in English/Spanish PREFERRED Prior experience as medical assistant is helpful Ability to work with clinical staff and handle pressure from more than one provider Must have successfully completed and graduated from the medical assistant program Must have reliable transportation to and from work Environmental/Working Conditions: Normal office environment Occasional overtime may be required and/or hours may be shortened as business needs dictate Have adequate arrangement for babysitting, some days we may close late Physical Demands: Requires sitting and standing associated with normal office environmental Manual dexterity needed for using a calculator and computer keyboard.
