Early Childhood Community Programs Manager

Serving its community since 1993, the Family & Intercultural Resource Center (FIRC) is a non-profit organization that aims to enhance the quality of life in Summit County by providing information, assistance and education to families, immigrants and refugees. The FIRC operates Summit Thrift & Treasure (STT), a nonprofit thrift store for which all proceeds benefit FIRC programming. The FIRC fosters collaboration among community agencies and businesses and advocates for family and cultural competence.

The Manager will assist in the coordination of the Families United program and will report to the Families United Manager. The position is 32 hours weekdays with some flexibility and located in the FIRC?s Dillon office. FIRC offers health insurance and a 403b plan. Upon employment, employee must submit to a background check.

General requirements of the position include:

  • Excellent writing, typing, and organizational skills.
  • Able to manage time and multiple tasks, and remain committed to quality work.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and team leadership skills.
  • Basic working knowledge of PCs, Microsoft Windows and Office.
  • Experience with different data systems
  • College degree required.
  • Background or experience in Early Childhood
  • Experience managing at least one employee
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English

Responsibilities of the Early Childhood Community Programs Manager position include but are not limited to:

? Supervise two Early Head Start home visitors

? Coordinate Early Head Start program with other community partners

? Ensure health records are current and complete

? Be familiar with federal Early Head Start regulations

? Communication with Summit County Early Head Start office on a regular and frequent basis

? Oversee client files and administrative requirements of the program

? Develop systems to support quality of the Early Head Start home visitation program at the FIRC

? Oversee Teaching Strategies Gold program implementation and other assessments and screenings administered by the program

? Coordinate group connections and socializations

? Data Entry as necessary for completion of above tasks




Job description ? Families United Parent Educator

The FIRC operates Summit Thrift & Treasure (STT), a nonprofit thrift store for which all proceeds benefit FIRC programming. The FIRC fosters collaboration among community agencies and businesses and advocates for family and cultural competence.

The Parent Educator will report to the Families United Manager and is responsible for providing to parents information, support, and encouragement on optimal child development during the crucial early years of life. This is done by providing education in the form of personal home visits, group meetings, screenings, and linkages to a network of resources for parents and children. This is a full time flexible position. FIRC offers health, vision, and dental insurance and a 403b plan.

Primary Duties:

  • Successfully complete the Born to Learn-Parents as Teachers training
  • Maintain current certification as a parent educator, by completing the required professional development hours for years of service
  • Support Bright Beginnings program
  • Become qualified to administer developmental screenings
  • Commit to work for the Family and Intercultural Resource Center for one year
  • Maintain a schedule of assigned families per month
  • Organize and assist with program activities
  • Adhere to confidentiality practices

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide parent education to families through monthly home visitation, family activities, and life skill classes to Spanish and English speaking families
  • Assess family need and provide developmentally appropriate information, guidance, and support to parents
  • Complete all required documentation regarding home visits, attendance records, screening summaries, essential records in a timely and comprehensive manner
  • Demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge about what promotes optimal parent-child interaction and infant, toddler, and child development
  • Represent agency and program at various community events or meetings
  • Coordinate services with other community programs offering services to parents and their children
  • Participate in regular, relationships-based supervision with program manager and engage in setting personal goals for professional development
  • Engage in on-going learning about issues related to cultural sensitivity and competency
  • Organize, facilitate and promote FU educational activities
  • Fulfill all training requirements and expectations

General requirements of the position include:
