Heartland Hospice Services of Fairfax VA has an immediate need for a compassionate Part-Time Veteran's Volunteer Coordinator.
Responsible for the development and administration of the veteran volunteer program. Supervises all aspects of volunteer services. *Develops and implements programs for recruitment, interviewing, training, retention, and orientation of volunteers. Educational Requirements:High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelors Degree in behavioral sciences, human services, or related field preferred. Position Requirements:•Candidate will be a veteran that enjoys working with veterans on a daily and regular basis.
•Must patient and willing to drive long distances to meet with patients and their families, designate allotted time to sit with veterans and appreciate the Veterans History Project and its mission.
•Understands the fundamentals of the VA system as well as has an interest/knowledge of medicine or the health care.
•1 year experience working with families or groups and coordinating community volunteers preferred.
•Basic office skills, with excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
oExcellent organizational skills.
oDemonstrated experience in supervision.
oDemonstrated ability to execute a supportive approach to volunteer and client/family needs.
