Provides project management & analytical consulting & business decision support to the Decision Support Department & various business units within Kaiser Permanente. Maintains & supports a culture of compliance, ethics & integrity. Maintains knowledge of policies & procedures & performs in accordance w/ the Principles of Responsibilities & applicable regulatory requirements, external laws & accreditation standards. Appropriately reports observed fraud or abuse.
Essential Functions:
- Performs project management support for the DSS department, including development of project plans & leading special projects using the DSS datasets
- Designs & develops new reporting capabilities using the DSS datasets
- Consults & interacts w/ multiple functions in the organization in the use & improvement in the usability of the DSS datasets
- Analyzes, extracts & provides costing information necessary to maintain the DSS system
- Trains department divisional managers & staff in the concepts of cost accounting & develops relationships to ensure acceptance & appropriate maintenance of the system
- Develops ongoing controls to ensure accurate & complete transfer of data to DSS
- Reviews current processes & makes recommendations for improvements & implements changes
- Performs other duties as assigned by management - In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors & principles defined by the KP Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives
- Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, & behaviors necessary to provide superior & culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, & to purchasers, contracted providers & vendors

Requirements |
Basic Qualifications:
- A minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting or financial experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, accounting, finance or related area
- Personal computer spreadsheet, word processing & project management application experience
- General knowledge of mainframe computer applications related to database maintenance & reporting required
- Excellent written & oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree preferred
- Cost accounting experience in a health care setting preferred
- Health care benchmarking experience preferred
- Experience in implementing & supporting the Avega Alliance Decision Support System preferred
