Job Description
Medical Assistants function as members of the health care delivery team and perform administrative and patient care functions. The duties of the medical assistant vary from department to department, depending on location, size, and specialty. Medical Assistants work within the Department of Nursing and can receive Nursing Director defined responsibilities that may be delegated by Physician and Registered Nurses. These defined responsibilities are within the scope of responsibility as described by this Job Description/Development Plan, nursing policy and the individual’s competency level.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum requirements include graduation from an accredited medical assistant program with a diploma, certification preferred. CPR certification, or willingness to become CPR certified. Experience in ambulatory nursing preferred. Ability to work effectively under stress and efficiently handle daily fluctuations in patient volume. Ability to work effectively and professionally with patients, co-workers and physicians. Must be proficient in speaking, reading and writing English.
