The Director, Multi-Cultural Marketing will oversee the Association’s marketing efforts across diverse populations to positively impact mission delivery and constituent engagement across high-risk target audiences disparately impacted by diabetes (including African American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian American/Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander and Native American populations.) Working collaboratively with key stakeholder groups to develop and execute integrated marketing communications plans, this position is also responsible for optimizing organization-wide brand and message strategies to ensure relevance and cultural competency among target populations.
The Director will be responsible for fostering critical relationships with other internal functional areas including High Risk Programs & Health Disparities and Program Implementation & Outreach to develop multi-channel strategies to promote key national and community-based programs and initiatives. Other critical relationships include volunteers, field staff, external vendors/agencies, key opinion leaders and professional organizations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage cross-functional teams (including both staff and volunteers) to develop and oversee the implementation of cross cultural marketing plans in support of key programs and initiatives to ensure alignment with annual objectives and long-term strategic plan goals.
- Leverage expertise to develop culturally competent marketing communications materials to successfully promote Association programs, events and awareness activities (including American Diabetes Alert Day and American Diabetes Month) across a culturally diverse market place. Includes the development/translation of effective Spanish-language messages and materials.
- Develop and execute strategies to improve engagement with target audiences leveraging digital channels including traditional web, social media, online community and mobile tactics.
- Demonstrate strong leadership role across the organization by developing relationships with and ensuring alignment/commitment from relevant departments to enable successful execution of strategies.
- Establish and implement key metrics to track and communicate level of value and impact of multicultural initiatives to relevant stakeholders.
- Provide multicultural solutions and ideas for marketplace's unique challenges.
- 8 to 10 years progressive marketing/brand management experience with increasing areas of responsibility, preferably within the healthcare space. Agency experience a plus.
- Fully bilingual – English and Spanish – required
- Prior experience in ethnic, minority, cultural or other relevant customer segment marketing
- Extensive experience in developing, translating and editing Spanish-language marketing and/or educational materials, preferably in the health field.
- Demonstrated collaboration skills and experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills – both English and Spanish.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or relevant field required.
