Job Description
Provides comprehensive direct and indirect patient care in the outpatient and inpatient settings across the continuum of care. Communicates with physicians regarding changes in patient’s clinical condition; results of diagnostic studies; and patient symptomatology as appropriate. In response to changes in patient condition; quickly, accurately and effectively modifies therapeutic interventions to promote optimal health status. Conducts staff and patient education to promote wellness and prevention of health problems. Develops resources and communicates knowledge to members of health care team, patients, and their family members. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Nurses provide for a basis for practice for the nurse practitioner. The National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants and American Academy of Physician Assistants provides guidelines for Physician Assistant practice.

Position Overview:
The NP or PA's time is split equally between our Cardiac Center which is connected to our 304-bed, Level II Trauma Center. The department provides clinical outreach to some of the surrounding communities. Some travel may be required to our Northland Clinic locations in Barron and Rice Lake. The typical day begins at 7:30 with a quick huddle of the providers; then we're off to do patient rounding in the hospital. There is flexibility in setting our clinic schedules, which are often from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The day is typically done by 5:00 p.m. The weekend rotation is 1 in every 7-8 providing hospital rounding. With no nights, no call, and minimum weekends, this position offers plenty of work/life balance!

Basic Qualifications:
Qualifications – Nurse Practitioner: Current prescriptive authority in the state of Wisconsin (APNP certification and DEA) obtaining 8 contact hours per year in clinical pharmacology/therapeutics relevant to Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber’s area of practice. Hospital and clinic privileges. Qualifications – Physician Assistant: Must complete 100 hours of CME every two (2) years and take the recertification exam every six (6) years. Must be supervised by licensed physician. Hospital and clinic privileges. Prescriptive Authority in the State of Wisconsin (WI Board of Medical Examiners and DEA)

Other Qualifications:
Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English. Additional languages preferred.
Strong clinical assessment skills following current practice standards.
Strong cardiovascular knowledge base involving cardiovascular physiology, medications, and treatment modalities recommended.
Basic computer aptitude.

License or Certification:
Qualifications – Nurse Practitioner:
Active Wisconsin R.N. license with eligibility to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin
National certification (e.g. ANCC or AANP) as a Nurse Practitioner with recertification every 5 years under regulating agencies guidelines.
Current BLS and ACLS certification.

Qualifications – Physician Assistant:
Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant Program; NCCPA Certified, and licensed through the State of Wisconsin.
Current BLS and ACLS certification.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every two weeks is approximately $3,000.00, based on a full-time position.
