The Product Engineer - Electrified Powertrain, is responsible for the design and development of electric vehicle power electronics and electrified vehicle systems/devices for passenger cars and trucks. The Engineer will develop efficient and cost effective power electronics designs using cutting edge technologies, the latest test and evaluation equipment/laboratory, and robust simulation tools. The Engineer will define and carry out all required development / validation testing to ensure achievement of all functional objectives and assure compliance to program goals. The Engineer will participate in supplier assessments and post-test inspection reviews; including detailed failure analysis. Work closely with the chosen suppliers and manufacturing entities to ensure designs are robust to customer requirements, meet exact function, and are manufacturable without defect. The Engineer will initiate production source packages and execute the design using strong leadership abilities and outstanding teamwork/communication skills. He/she will also analyze test data to determine if vehicle, subsystem and components meet performance criteria, develop vehicle and subsystem test plan procedures to verify functional requirements are satisfied update and verify module software in development vehicles, develop and validate thermal system diagnostic trouble codes perform bench and model testing of thermal system controls and system diagnostics, confirm vehicles are fully functional prior to development and validation testing, diagnose hardware faults for the thermal systems, develop thermal controls strategies for HVAC, battery thermal management and powertrain cooling, lead and/or support resolution of identified vehicle and subsystem issues, test and evaluate thermal system controls on development trips
Basic Requirements:
* Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in automotive electronics and circuit design and/or development, control systems or embedded controller
* Understanding of automotive power electronics and devices
Proficient in ETAS INCA
* Proficient in Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, or equivalent CAN monitoring tools
Experience in HVAC or powertrain cooling system controls
* DVP&R and DFMEA
* Strong understanding of electrical engineering standards and protocols
* Highly motivated and self-starter
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
* Good analytical and problem solving skills
Preferred Requirements:
* Master of Science in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
5 years' experience in hybrid vehicle power electronics design and development
* Design and release experience
* Strengths in modeling and simulation and FEA
* Ability to navigate and understand Matlab Simulink and Stateflow models
* Experience with CAPL scripting
* Knowledge of OBD regulatory requirements
* OBD & base engine control software knowledge a plus
