Job Description
The Medical Laboratory Technician performs waived, moderate or high complexity testing as defined by CLIA'88. The MLT possesses working knowledge of the clinical laboratory and performs routine clinical laboratory analyses, recognizes problems, identifies basic causes, and makes corrections using established protocols. The MLT correlates data based on knowledge of technical and instrumental conditions affecting test results and performs quality control procedures within established parameters. The MLT collaborates with the customers of the laboratory to promote customer satisfaction. The MLT works under general supervision. The MLS/MT, Clinic MLT or CMA, while at the satellite locations, also function as a Radiology Operator by performing a variety of diagnostic testing procedures in the disciplines of radiology and quality assurance. The operator possess a working knowledge of imaging practice, recognizes problems, identifies basic causes and makes corrections using established protocols. As a radiology operator, they perform these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures and regulatory agency requirements. They may also be cross trained in other modalities.
Basic Qualifications:
Graduate from a Medical Technician program (2 yr.) with an Associate Degree in clinical laboratory science which includes the completion of a clinical internship of at least 6 months duration or equivalent routes as specified in CLIA Applicant should possess or be eligible to receive appropriate HHS (Health & Human Services)approved laboratory certification (ASCP or AMT). If not certified at the time of hire, must obtain certification within 1 year of hire. Current certification with State of Minnesota – X-Ray Operators exam or ability to attain within 3 months. Understanding of current Minnesota Department of Health Regulations. Knowledge of X-Ray quality control and safety standards.
License or Certification:
