Performs under the supervision of a physician or prof. nurse services requiring the education, training, & experience, as evidenced by knowledge, abilities& skills required for a lpn pursuant in caring for the ill, injured, in teaching & promoting preventive health measures, in acting to safeguard life, or in administering treatments prescribed by a legally authorized physician, or physician assis. implementing a medical plan per CRS 12-38-103 (4). Makes members/patients a primary focus of one's actions; develops & sustains productive member/patient relationships. Actively seeks information to understand circumstances, problems, expectations, & needs. Considers how actions or plans will affect members
Essential Functions:
- (Portions adopted from the Colorado State Nurse Practice Act CRS 12-38-103)Supports the physician & other medical providers in the care & treatment of patients, including rooming the patient; communicating delays to patient, provider, & team members
- Performs duties & responsibilities w/ excellence, enthusiasm, great service orientation
- Practices within scope of practice perimeters as inferred by licensure, standard nursing practice, knowledge, & KP guidelines
- Performs routine & specialized nursing procedures following physician's orders & approved nursing care plan, administers treatment using therapeutic equipment, such as intermittent positive pressure breathing apparatus; administers medications (including narcotics) orally or by injections.
- If IV certified LPN, may perform intravenous therapy, as per Colorado State Board of Nursing Chapter IX
- Monitors patient's condition by observing, collecting, reporting, & recording objective/subjective data; identifies changes in the patient's condition; collect data & report sign & symptoms of deviation from normal health status, symptoms and/or reactions to medications & treatments; initiates appropriate standard emergency procedures & reports adverse patient conditions to physician, Nursing Manager, or RN
- Teaches & promotes general preventive health measures to patients & members of their families regarding home health care, such as use of medications, administering injections, taking blood pressure, general post-operative care, & general diabetic care
- Disseminates pre-printed standard aftercare instructions & pre-printed patient instruction material
- Assists physician w/ examinations, treatments & minor surgery, by preparing patient & room for a specific procedure & attending patient during procedure
- Records pertinent information in patient's medical chart, patient's nursing history, physical data, vital signs, symptoms, treatments, examinations, medications administered, reactions & observations
- Assists in orienting & training new employees
- May perform the duties of a Nursing Assistant or Med Receptionist
- May assign activities for nursing & med. assistants & medical receptionist
- Applies principles of asepsis & infection control
- Maintains a safe & therapeutic patient care environment
- Orders, stores & maintains adequate inventory of supplies & instruments used by department as assigned
- In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors & principles defined by the KP Service Quality Credo

Requirements |
Basic Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program
- Licensed as a Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Colorado
- IV therapy certification may be required for some positions
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) & Taxonomy code required at time of hire
- Demonstrated customer service focus & exemplary service skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6 months to 1 year of experience w/ adults, pediatrics and/or trauma preferred
- BLS preferred
