Description



Allied World Assurance Company is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst in our New York office. The person is responsible for assisting the Head of Investor Relations in the broad management of investor relations and strategy. This includes targeting and building relationships with new and existing investors, analyzing Allied World's performance as compared to its public company peers, maintaining a database tracking investor communications, and preparing marketing materials for external use as well as for senior management and the Board of Directors. The person will also provide additional support with strategic developments, including researching and analyzing potential acquisitions, and coordinating across the Company on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Investor Relations in the oversight of external marketing, including but not limited to:
    • The preparation of internal and external reports including quarterly earnings releases and conference call scripts, investor presentations, peer analyses, and ad hoc strategy updates.
    • Monitoring investor developments in the sector and creating marketing plans to target new investors.
    • Acting as curator of a detailed database of investor communications.
    • Coordinating across the company to obtain information in response to investor requests, as well as communicating it directly to investors.
    • Daily monitoring of analyst earnings estimates, sector developments, including market conditions, peer / competitive activities, as well as communicating the information to senior management and the Board of Directors. 
    • Scheduling conference appearances, non-deal road shows, and investor calls/meetings.
    • Working closely with the marketing team to manage press releases.
    • Maintaining the Investor Relations website.
  • Work as in-house investment banking analyst reviewing potential strategic opportunities.
  • Work with external bankers and other potential deal sources to screen/review and analyze potential opportunities.
  • Assist with financial valuation models for potential opportunities.
  • Coordinate due diligence across the Company.
  • Review various third party sector / equity and capital markets research.
  •  Help create and deliver PowerPoint presentations for senior management and the Board of Directors.



  • Bachelors Degree in economics or finance (or having taken applicable classes)
  • 2-4 years work experience
  • Preference for work experience in an investment banking analyst role or graduate of an investment bank / commercial bank training program
  • Excellent fluency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent attention to detail and high degree of resourcefulness and curiosity
  • Strong experience with third party databases including SNL
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of investment markets, including valuation principles for insurance equities
  •  Transaction experience in either capital markets or M&A transactions
