The Business Unit Leader enthusiastically supports and contributes to The Sterling Heights Assembly Plant's World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Program and tools. This position is responsible for improving safety, quality, delivery, cost savings, and employee morale in a team-based environment. Lead cross-functional team in daily activities, problem solving, root cause analyses, and maintaining or improving quality and throughput while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and providing a safe working environment for employees. The Business Unit Leader also conducts routine audits and verifications to confirm completion of written / documented processes, procedures, and activities and ensures quality and operation systems are implemented and functioning according to standards. This position is also responsible for re-establishing ideal conditions in the case of system failure or non-conformance. In addition, the Business Unit Leader will plan the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance while maintaining quality and throughput levels. This position will facilitate communication between departments, lines, and internal suppliers and also teach, cultivate, and implement teamwork, lean manufacturing, and problem solving in a positive, proactive work environment. Actively support the World Class Manufacturing production system.
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree
* Minimum 7 years of supervisory production/maintenance experience in manufacturing environment
* Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor employee team members
* Proficient in all MicroSoft Office Products
* Previous experience working in union environment
* Strong background in LEAN manufacturing
* Powertrain/assembly/stamping experience
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in technical field preferred
* Advanced degree preferred
