The Controls Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing and maintaining stable and capable production/business processes as they pertain to equipment functionality. Additionally, the Engineer is responsible for machine/equipment capabilities as they relate to safety, throughput, quality (equipment integrity) and for monitoring related issues of assembly/machining lines. The Engineer will plan, test and coordinate the implementation of preventive actions in the production lines in order to establish and verify capable and stable production processes in terms of safety, quality, delivery and cost. Investigate and resolve issues associated with assembly automation, work stations, robotics and automated equipment. Troubleshoot PLC Controls with electrical components, servo-drives, motors, wiring and panels. Review and make PLC program changes on Siemens, Fanuc, Allen Bradley, and other machining PLC programs. Capture and document changes and update prints as needed. Lead, coordinate and facilitate trouble shooting electrical issues, problem resolution issues as they relate to equipment downtime, throughput improvement or any safety concerns. Establish, maintain, update and administer electrical control plans. Participate in all aspects of simultaneous engineering efforts to improve current processes and new projects. Perform any related tasks as needed. Work closely with maintenance group, trades and business unit leaders.
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree required
* Minimum 4 years manufacturing experience in automotive assembly
and/or machining environment
* Proven programming experience with Allen Bradley, PLC-5, SLC 500 &
Control Logix
* Must have ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems
* Proficient in all MS 2007 Office Products, excellent PowerPoint & Excel
skills
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology,
and/or advanced degree
* Previous paint shop experience
* Self-directed and motivated
* Effective problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication skills
