Job Description
This is a limited tenure position.
Facilitates the collection, storage, allocation and evaluation of patient biological specimens for the purposes of supporting clinical and basic science research activities. Coordinates all activities relating to assigned clinical research studies.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry, Cytology or related field. Must have recent work experience in a laboratory setting working with collection, storage and/or assaying of human biological samples. Two years' experience with research protocols or in a research work environment preferred. Experience with immunohistochemistry, real time PCR, cell culture preferred. Experience in Mayo Clinic system preferred.
Other Qualifications:
Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with health care and research professionals. Good human relations, communication and organizational skills required. Strong written communications skills required. Computer knowledge and skills required. Must possess technical and analytical skills in the use of complex medical equipment. Lab duties may require variation in work schedules. Must be able to work above shoulder level, and have adequate use of both hands. Must be able to tolerate use of acids, bases, and alcohol. Must have normal vision, and be able to distinguish color. Must be able to operate clinical instrumentation. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to handle patient contact. Must be able to work with a microscope. Must be able to tolerate occasional exposure to radiation, in conjunction with some FNA procedures. Must be able to tolerate exposure to blood borne pathogens. Must be able to tolerate skin contact with cleanser, 10% bleach, and chemical reagents. Must be able to work around machinery with moving parts. Must be able to work with immunosuppressed patients (i.e. perform fine needle aspirations). * Must be able to hear at normal conversational level. Must be able to tolerate occasional bending, kneeling, and squatting. Must be able to lift more than 25 pounds on an occasional basis.

Weekend Schedule: As needed
Compensation Detail: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $24.08 per hour.
