Job Description
The Nurse Practitioner - Surgical provides comprehensive direct and indirect patient care in the appropriate setting across the continuum of care. Communicates with physicians about changes in patient’s clinical condition, results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Performs in the role of surgical first assistant in the OR. Conducts staff and patient education, promotes wellness, and prevention of health problems. Develops resources and communicates knowledge to members of health care team, patients, and family members. Applies principles of continuous improvement to all aspects of the job performance. The RN models professionalism while interacting with patients, families and co-workers. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Nurses provide a basis for practice.
Basic Qualifications:
Basic computer skills, Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, Leadership, problem solving, verbal and written communication, and team building, Ability to perform the range of duties in a variety of work settings, perform well in stressful situations and to work effectively as part of an integrated healthcare team, Basic improvement concepts and techniques, Flexibility to meet department needs.
License or Certification:
Active Wisconsin RN license or eligibility to practice professional nursing in the state of Wisconsin, National Certification (e.g. ANCC or AANP), Current prescriptive authority in the state of Wisconsin (APNP certification), Current BLS Certification, Experience treating neurologic/neurosurgical conditions and/or surgical first assisting, preferred, Allied Health Privileges within 3 months of hire.

Hours/Pay Period: 80
Schedule Details: M-F clinic hours with on-call responsibilities. 24 hr call shifts & weekend coverage.
Weekend Schedule: Weekday & weekend on-call & rounding responsibilities.
