Assists the Ophthalmologist by obtaining standard tests and measurements prior to being seen, rooms patient, obtains brief history and chief complaint, verifies medications and allergies, and assists Ophthalmologist as needed.

Essential Functions:
Facilitates patient traffic flow through:
- Preparation of exam room.
- Pre-Assessment of patient by reviewing pertinent medical records, including, but not limited to, patient history, appointment history, demographics, and visit encounters.
- Documentation of chief complaint, vital signs, medication and allergies.
- Completion of daily, weekly, and monthly Quality Initiatives for department.
- Takes ocular measurements, both anatomical and functional.
- Assists ophthalmologist with basic procedures within scope of practice.
- Provide written educational materials and after visit summary prior to patient discharge.
- Schedule follow up visits.
- Completes daily, weekly, and monthly Quality Initiatives for the department.
- Other duties as assigned.



Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- AAMA or AMT Certification required.
- Minimum of 3 years experience working in an Ophthalmology or Optometrist office.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Optical Technology.
