Day to Day Work

The Presales/Field Engineer is part of the Software Channel Group - Corporate Development.

Overview
- Position is responsible for consulting with customers as part of selling, supporting and implementing software solutions and products.
- Incumbent provides technical support for sales presentations, product demonstrations, customer training, and delivery of professional services.
- Incumbent provides partners with remote and onsite technical assistance as needed to ensure the successful implementation of software solutions and products at both partner and partner client locations
- In addition to providing technical sales support and field implementation support, activities may include development of product promotions; technical guides, onsite technical training, pre-installation consideration and architectural design and planning, along with development and implementation of channel programs; products designated to be sold through the indirect Software Channel.
- Incumbent understands, develops and delivers solutions to meet customers’ business, technical and educational needs.
- Position provides presales and marketing support to both VARs and Channel Account Managers.
- Incumbent acts as a technical advisor for specific product(s) assigned.
- Position requires specialized knowledge in the software solutions and products designated to be sold through VARs.
- Other duties as maybe assigned by management from time to time

Position Responsibilities
- Provides pre-sales technical support to the Software Channel VAR teams
- Provide post-Sales technical support for Software Channel VAR teams
- Consults with prospective and current clients as part of selling and supporting software solutions and products
- Consults with partners and partner clients on design, implementation and troubleshoot techniques
- Provides technical support for sales presentations, product demonstrations, and customer training
- Assists Channel Account Managers with VAR go-to-market plan development and implementation
- Assists in solution definition, delivery, pricing and positioning (including channel collateral)
- Aligns revenue planning with go-to-market strategy
- Works with Channel Partner’s sales and/or engineering teams to:
o Maintain certifications as per requirements for that Partner’s tier level
o Reach subject matter expertise for all software and products sold through the VAR
o Keep current on the software solutions/products
o Develop marketing, end-user solutions, and presentations that reflect accurately Unisys products and programs
o Ensure successful deployment of PoC and Pilot programs
o Coordinate with Unisys Engineering as needed and required

Technical & Behavioral Skills

Expected Attributes:
- Thorough working knowledge of network infrastructures, LDAP, specifically Microsoft Active Directory, Network Security infrastructures and concepts and at least one of the following Hypervisors, VMware, Citrix XenServer and/or Microsoft Hyper-V
- Willing to travel up to 70%
- Home office within reasonable driving distance from a major airport
- Influence: persuasive yet graceful in becoming a trusted advisor and generate energy.
- Customer oriented: focused on customer satisfaction.
- Strategic: able to quickly sort through clutter and find best route. Sees patterns where others just see complexity. Able to quickly play out alternatives and understand roadmap.

Required Skills
- 5+ years in software solution / services sales, marketing and/or consulting delivery, experience working with VARs in the technology industry a plus
- Project management discipline
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experienced with software product launches
- Campaign/ go-to-market development and execution
- Workshop facilitation and client briefings

Desirable Knowledge (industry, technology and geographic regions)
- Systems integrations (data centers, application development and security)
- Software solutions
- Global marketing experience
- Disruptive new technologies
- Financial services, public sector, legal, Federal, health care industries
