The Vehicle Cost Engineer (VCE) is responsible for managing the vehicle level cost from concept approval to the end of life for a vehicle program. The Vehicle Cost Engineer will own the overall vehicle cost management process, including driving uniformity in the development and tracking of component targets and change management. Develop vehicle level targets for technical cost and investment/tooling (the checkbook) to support the vehicle's overall business case. Act as the point person for Purchasing for target cost and investment concerns during the sourcing process. Manage all changes to the component cost and investment checkbook via the corporate change management process. The Vehicle Cost Engineer works with multiple cross functional organizations and all levels of management from senior executives to product design and release engineers. Multiple positions are available.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university or Bachelor's of Science degree in Finance; other educational credentials, combined with relevant experience, may be considered
* Minimum of 6 years of automotive industry experience at an OEM or large tier 1 to include one or more of the following areas: engineering program management (technical or financial), including leading a cross functional team; vehicle program management (technical or financial), including leading a cross functional team; engineering design and development

* Advanced technical or management degree
* Excellent relationship building skills
* Ability to present ideas and concepts successfully to all levels of management
* Ability to productively manage change
* Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
* Excellent MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
* Engineering vehicle cost analysis experience
* Familiarity with finance terminology
* Experience using financial management systems (Fastcar2 is preferred)
* Tooling and variable cost estimating
