Employment Type: Full Time
Physical Location: Chrysler Headquarters & Tech Center
Our gasoline engine controls and diagnostics development team has opportunities to provide exciting and challenging assignments to an experienced powertrain and engine control algorithm development engineer. The areas this includes are GPS-based cruise control, integrated powertrain control (torque characterization, engine/transmission interactions, powertrain optimization strategies), gas exchange processes (valve control, turbocharging, EGR, tumble flap, etc.), and fuel systems (port and direct injection systems). Other areas include the combustion processes (spark and compression ignition), utilization of sensors in feedback and feedforward control strategies, and alternator/electrical load management.
The Powertrain Control Engineers are expected to work with their stakeholders to gather high level functional requirements, and prepare algorithms to conform to high level/functional requirements within program timelines. Algorithm development is done using Matlab-Simulink and rapid prototyping tools. The work is performed in the vehicle, dynamometer and/or simulator environment. The successful candidate will use these tools to develop algorithms and follow the development through to production software, including the development of all supporting documentation (includes DFMEA, testing and validation reports) and calibration guides.
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's of Science in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university
* Minimum 1 year of related experience, however, an advanced degree and/or academic research in a related field may count towards experience requirement
* Minimum 1 year of experience in cruise control
* Matlab-Simulink experience
* Outstanding interpersonal and problem solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
* Engine calibration and/or embedded software experience a plus
* Good overall knowledge of IC engines and engine control systems
* Will be a self-starter who is able to work cross-functionally with other organizations
* Experience in ETAS INCA
