Operates computed tomography & magnetic resonance imaging scanners & related equipment to produce images of specified areas of the body, in accordance w/ the Radiologist's instructions, using knowledge of CT/MRI techniques & procedures, sterile techniques, basic nursing procedures, patient care & monitoring, anatomical relationships & the contour & composition of body tissues. Makes members/patients & their needs a primary focus of one's actions; develops & sustains productive member/patient relationships. Actively seeks information to understand member/patient circumstances, problems, expectations, & needs. Builds rapport & cooperative relationship w/ members/patients. Considers how actions or plans will affect members; responds quickly to meet member/patient needs & resolves problems.
Essential Functions:
- Instructs patient in preparing for examinations; explains, in a courteous manner, all procedures to be performed
- Administers contrast media under direction of physician
- Positions patient to obtain desired images in accordance w/ physician's instruction & using knowledge of human anatomy
- Operates CT/MRI equipment to produce images of specified areas of the body, using knowledge of physiology & cross-sectional anatomy
- Monitors images & makes necessary adjustments to obtain optimal images
- Confers w/ Radiologist to establish requirements for non-standard examinations
- Operates & maintain image recording equipment, including computer, disk drives, laser camera, image storage equipment & other devices
- Develops films & processes images as required
- Consistently operates Radiology Information System to ensure accurate patient information by tracking patient in/out of procedure room, tracking supplies/films used, identifying patient films, & tracking repeated films
- Monitors patient during sedation under direction of a physician
- Maintains quality control of all CT/MRI procedures & related equipment by monitoring the operating condition of the equipment, & evaluating image quality
- Prepares & maintains CT/MRI records & files
- Maintains daily log & enters statistics into computer
- Compiles data & prepares reports in accordance w/ established guidelines
- Monitors & maintains inventory of supplies used in providing CT/MRI services according to established guidelines

Requirements |
Basic Qualifications:
- 6 months of recent computed tomography and/or magnetic resonance imaging experience
- HS graduation or equivalent
- Successful completion of an approved training program in radiologic technology plus currently registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Ability to operate CT and/or MRI equipment & perform related technical procedures
- Working knowledge of CT and/or MRI techniques & procedures, anatomical relationships & the contour & composition of body tissues
- Ability to communicate effectively in a caring & courteous manner
- Must be able to lift & carry up to 44 pounds throughout the workday
- May require heavy lifting
- Demonstrated customer service skills, customer focus abilities & the ability to understand KP customer needs
May work variable locations and modalities, variable shifts, and variable hours
