Senior Analyst (Pharmacy)

Location: Anywhere in US - Virtual Office

Job Summary:

This home based role resides on the VHA Pharmacy Performance Services team with primary responsibility to provide pharmaceutical analytical support for the designated Pharmacy Implementation Managers. This role includes applying pharmaceutical analytical practices and processes supporting the tracking, analysis, benchmarking and reporting of data and activity across Pharmacy Performance service lines and initiatives for member hospitals.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for, but not limited to, the analytical functions for creating & supporting standard pharmacy services reporting
  • Develops queries, analyses and deliverables for pharmacy services including standard and ad-hoc reports
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets pharmaceutical data to define savings opportunities
  • Works with individuals throughout the VHA Pharmacy Performance teams in support of member plans
  • Helps create processes and tools to support VHA Pharmaceutical Service team initiatives
  • Utilizes related software solutions to analyze and interpret data
  • Tracks and monitors metrics related to performance and forecasting
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or statistics. Will consider a healthcare related degree with data background/experience. Master's degree preferred
  • Three years' experience in a business-to-business service organization, statistical and business analysis experience. Healthcare setting preferred
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office tools, particularly MS Access and MS Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, detail-oriented, communication, customer service, organizational, presentation and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work with all levels in the organization
  • Ability to work in fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Ability to multi-task

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical strengths, packaging, dosage forms, and routes of administration
  • History of work experience in the pharmaceutical environment, with a priority in hospital pharmacy purchasing
  • Strong communication skills in the area of medications in order to relate to the VHA Pharmacy MSRs, with whom the Senior Analyst, Pharmacy, will be working
  • Understanding of medication packaging, Novation contracts, and pharmaceutical literature
