Job Description:
Bilingual Medicaid Field Worker
Summary
The Medicaid Field Worker is part of a team at Miller & Milone that works together to determine Medicaid eligibility for patients of client hospitals and complete the Medicaid applications. He/she exercises all means of communication (telephone, e-mail, and in-person meetings) to collect documentation for the purpose of evaluating patients eligibility and/or completing application requirements. Travel to hospitals and patient residences in an attempt to collect documentation is required. Field workers must conduct themselves at all times in accordance with HIPAA and Medicaid guidelines.
Responsibilities include:
Screening Spanish speaking patients for Medicaid eligibility
Researching and verifying patients residences using search engines
Traveling to hospitals to retrieve patient documentation
Visiting Spanish speaking patients homes to screen for financial eligibility and complete Medicaid application process
Traveling to Department of Social Services to process applicant paperwork
Researching and resolving Medicaid-related issues
Documenting all actions taken to communicate with patients, updating patient accounts, tracking application status, and processing weekly reporting
Managing of 60-70 patient accounts per cycle
Position Requirements:
Must be fluent in Spanish and English to effectively communicate with patients/applicants
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Must possess a strong work ethic and be able to work independently
Adherence to Medicaid and HIPAA guidelines
Excellent communication skills English/Spanish
Must have a clean driving record and a reliable, fully-insured vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed)
Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, and Outlook) applications
Must be able to travel locally and be in the field 50% of the time
Present a professional image in appearance and attitude
Must pass safe and valid motor vehicle screening, criminal background check, OIG & GSA excluded party search, and 10 panel drug screening
Must pass the New York State Notary exam within 3 months of hire
Flexible Schedule
The position is full-time (40 hours/week) with flexible scheduling. Candidates will be required to work Saturdays and evenings, with compensatory time off during the week.
2 - Weekday evenings spent in the field
3 - Saturdays a month, full days, spent in field
1 - Saturday a month spent working from home
2 - Days a week, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., spent in office
