Day to Day Work

Client Architect Role

The Client Architect is a position within the pre-sales organization with a primary responsibility to create innovative and competitive solutions to the client’s needs that win business for Unisys. The Client Architect role will have a focus on and a depth of knowledge about their assigned client accounts instead of having a depth of knowledge on specific solution subject areas. The Client Architect will be a primary partner to the Account Director for the client account and will have the following areas of responsibility:

Strategic

* Service Portfolio Management
* Understand and be able to explain the existing Unisys service portfolio for the account
* Assist in the development of Unisys’ marketing strategy and pursuit plans for the account across all segments of the Unisys account portfolio
* Provide technical and services thought leadership and innovation to the account as a means to foster growth in the Unisys account portfolio

* Enterprise Architecture
* Identify Unisys capabilities required to enable pursuits and support the Account strategy & objectives
* Assess existing capabilities against those needed for pursuits & strategy; identify gaps that must be addressed to enable pursuits
* Identify the tactical activities within Unisys’ applications, infrastructure, and/or operations required to address gaps and enable pursuits
* Produce all artifacts necessary to describe the technical and/or service delivery elements of tactical activities or capabilities
* Assist the Account Director in performing year-to-year management of the Unisys services pipeline
* Solutions for new services to be introduced
* Investments required to maintain or modify existing services, including technology refresh
* Investments required to divest account of infrastructure associated with retired services

Pursuit

* Create solutions for identified & prioritized pursuits
* Leverage solution, portfolio, or other peer architects as needed to ensure that solutions are innovative and competitive

* Ensure solution completeness and deliverability
* Producing all artifacts necessary to describe the technical solution and service delivery
* Performing reviews with all Unisys groups with delivery responsibility to ensure that all delivery costs and elements have been addressed

* Assist in pursuit cycle to closure
* Create artifacts needed to explain technical solutions and service offerings
* Present technical solutions and service offerings to clients or Unisys internal groups

Relationship

* Establish trusted partner relationships with key members of the client’s leadership and senior technology professionals as part of the account’s coverage plan
* Understand client’s infrastructure and operations
* Understand client’s tactical plans, and strategic objectives
* Represent Unisys from a technical perspective to the client

* Establish relationships with Unisys solution, portfolio, and other technical personnel
* Represent the needs of the client or the Unisys account team to other Unisys professionals
* Understand the product, portfolio, and solution directions occurring within Unisys outside of the account and support the introduction & leverage of those within the account

* Participate as a leader or key contributor in industry organizations and activities that are associated with Unisys’ business or the business/operations of the client
* Demonstrate Unisys’ industry leadership to the client
* Demonstrate Unisys’ thought & market leadership within the industry

Transition

* Provide technology leadership during transition kickoff and early phases of transition lifecycle to ensure that the solution and technology as sold are understood
* Provide solution & technology reviews at key checkpoints within transition projects to ensure that the solutions as sold are implemented for steady state operations
* Provide technology consulting as needed to resolve issues encountered during the transition lifecycle

Steady State Operations

* Assist Unisys Business Operations Manager to identify solution options to achieve Unisys steady state operations objectives for the account.
* Provide technology consulting on significant technical or operational challenges faced by Unisys operations at the account.
* Establish technology governance program for all technology introduced into or utilized by steady state operations at the account.
* Identify issues or risks associated with new or existing technologies & infrastructure
* Create recommendations and assist in resolving issues and managing risks

Other Competencies

* Strong customer advocate, good written and verbal communication skills, an ability to quickly grasp a solid understanding of the customer’s current and future state infrastructure goals and the ability to adapt to a change in the customers vision.
* Experience in complex hardware configurations, design, planning and implementation.
* Experience in strategic solution development, capacity planning and disaster recovery practices.
* Solid knowledge of data center principles & operations. Strong technical knowledge of Windows, Active Directory, UNIX, Virtualization, Utility / Cloud model, SAN technologies, Networking, Clustering & Security would be highly regarded.
* Experience with technology leaders such as Cisco, EMC, NetApp, VMware, HP, IBM, Microsoft
