Job Description
This posting is for a supplemental audiology assistant to work approximately one weekend per month in the newborn hearing screening program at Rochester Methodist Hospital. Under the supervision of a licensed audiologist, the assistant will be expected to screen the hearing of newborn babies during their hospital stay and will be exptected to work approximaterly 4 hours each day of their assigned weekend. The actual amount of hours will vary, based on the number of babies born. It is also an expectation that the assistant will be available during the week as necessary to cover occasional absences and for training purposes. Specific job responsibiliites include: use of computer based test equipment to perform newborn hearing screenings; accurate documentation in the medical record of the results; clear communication of results to parents, nursing and physician staff. The audiology assistant will be expected to establish and maintain professional interaction with patients, physicians and allied health staff and participate as a member of the Division of Audiology with various tasks as assigned by the coordinator of the newborn hearing screening program and/or the audiology supervisor.
Basic Qualifications:
TO BE CONSIDERED MUST SUBMIT A COVER LETTER STATING WHY YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS POSITION. High School Diploma, or G.E.D., and two years of patient care experience required. Possible experience may include duties such as patient service representative, clinical assistant or nursing assistant. Please submit 3 most recent performance appraisals to be considered.
Other Qualifications:
Preferred Qualification: Associate Degree and hearing aid repair experience. Experience working with computer applications such as MICS, Documents Browser, GPAS, and Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is required. Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in a customer service capacity is required. Experience working with people with disabilities will be helpful. The Audiology Assistant must be flexible, well-organized, detail oriented, demonstrate reliability, and the ability to manage a fast-paced environment.

Schedule Details: Rotating weekends and during the week in the absence of the primary audiology assistant.
Weekend Schedule: Saturday and Sunday for an average of 4 hours per day per assigned weekend. Hours will vary based on number of babies born.
