Job Description
Implements operational plans within the scope of responsibility. Coordinates the operational needs of the functional area. Assures plans are developed and measurable. Assures plans are implemented and communicated with staff and interdisciplinary team. In partnership with staff, promotes effective change for identified improvement goals. Identifies key quality indicators for monitoring and evaluation. Develops and implements performance improvement tools that demonstrate and support change. Analyzes data to identify opportunities for improvement. Recommends actions for further improvement for pursuing perfection. Assures staff is clinically competent. Monitors staff competence, developing standards, coordinating competency measurement systems and assessing competencies that reflect the needs of the service area and requirements for accreditation. Provides orientation and opportunities for continuing education. Creates the development of a system of hosts to serve as resources/role models to staff. Serves as expert and resource to staff. Promotes a culture of professional performance and autonomy. In collaboration with the administrator, completes and participates in staff performance evaluations. Creates and monitors improvement plans for performance issues. Role models healthy relationship management with all members of the health care team. Participates in activities to enhance professional growth and job performance. Collaborates with administrator to provide input into resource management plans and manages within established guidelines. Anticipates and facilitates assignments based on skill mix of nursing staff. Coordinates resource utilization, including supplies, equipment and other resources to ensure safe patient care. Oversees service area activities to achieve appropriate productivity levels, including adequate and efficient staffing levels, and review of service area payroll. Provides input to service area of responsibility and manages within budget guidelines. Works in collaboration with the adminisrator to determine service area goals and objectives for improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of patient care. Utilizes and provides input into the service area's annual budget process, paperwork and terminology. Assists administrator with preparation of the service area budget plan. Monitors, evaluates and controls the service area budget. Prioritizes and efficiently meets patient care needs and service area activities to meet fiscal goals. Promotes the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the organization. Supports service area goals that are linked directly to strategy. Acts as a resource to staff to ensure understanding of mission, vision, and goals and the important role they plan in achieving outcomes. Scrutinizes new objectives presented to ensure the link to overall organizational performance. Enhances team functioning to improve service excellence. Selects outstanding team members by partnering with Human Resources and following standard hiring practices. Directs orientation and training for new team members ensuring a welcoming environment. Develops staff continuously through a variety of means including feedback, coaching, mentoring and encouragement of professional development. Acts as primary retention officer for all team members. Manages team work flow and provides appropriately challenging work assignments. Conducts timely, effective and equitable performance evaluations for team members. Seeks opportunities to recognize and celebrate individual as well as team achievements in a timely fashion. Encourages an atmosphere of fun, appreciation and celebration. Creates an environment of empowerment, innovation and organizational agility. Provides timely counseling and formal discipline when necessary in partnership with Human Resources. Role models service excellence by focusing on the needs of patients, colleagues and team members and treating every individual with respect.

Basic Qualifications:
A minimum of three to five years related clinical nursing experience required. Demonstrated leadership skills required. Clinic care experience preferred. Experience in leadership positions preferred.

Other Qualifications:
Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program required. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred; other baccalaureate degrees considered.

License or Certification:
Registered Nursing (RN) License in the state of Minnesota required.

Schedule Details: M-F, 8-5; early & late meetings, other hours as needed. This position is responsible for clinic nursing at both the St. James and Springfield locations. Travel between sites will be necessary.
