Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, patient education, and discharge planning. The RN provides nursing care to patients and their significant others using an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care. The RN uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate all phases of nursing care for assigned patients from admission through discharge. The RN provides leadership in various roles that include, but are not limited to preceptor role, lead/charge nurse, and committee member. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Nurses provide a basis for practice.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides direct patient care: Assesses, plans and implements nursing care processes according to current departmental/facility protocols and standards. Provides ongoing reassessments of care and takes appropriate action within scope of interdisciplinary team. Administers prescribed medications and treatments to patients. Correlates signs and symptoms with available diagnostic data and takes appropriate action. Communicates and documents data on patient: patient/support person response to intervention, plan of care and information required by the departmental guidelines including: physical, psychosocial, spiritual needs and discharge/follow-up needs. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development of patient populations served by their department. Instructs patients and their families in proper care. Intervenes appropriately in clinical emergency situations. May prepare equipment and aid physician during treatment and examination of patients. Wears protective clothing for infection control and performs repetitive hand washing. Supervises assigned members of the nursing team. Practices Relationship Based Care Skills. Demonstrates knowledge of unit care standards. Completes all organizational/departmental requirements and education.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree preferred.
Other Qualifications:
Flexibility (Works flexible hours, which include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends). Basic computer skills. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Leadership, problem solving, verbal and written communication, and team building. Basic improvement concepts and techniques
License or Certification:
Active Wisconsin RN license or ability to practice professional nursing in the state of Wisconsin. Current BLS Certification.

Exemption Status: Non-exempt
Hours/Pay Period: Per diem
Schedule Details: Rotating shifts - days, evenings and nights. Minimum of 24 hours per month with 12 out of 24 hours on a weekend and one holiday per year.
Weekend Schedule: One 12 hour shift per month on the weekend.
Compensation Detail: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $28.77 per hour.
