The Product Engineer - Structures and Welding is responsible for the engineering, design, development, timing and production release of a Body-in-White system and/or components. The Product Engineer will create DFMEA's, DVPR's, performance standards, and conduct validation tests for these components; create and release weld models and perform structural analysis on sections and joints; support plant launches by ensuring components are designed and being applied as per design intent; and check designs against design guidelines, corporate requirements, and regulatory requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
* Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in product design in body engineering
* Self-starter with strong leadership, communication skills and demonstrated problem solving ability
* Proficient in MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in body engineering, product design or structural analysis in a manufacturing environment
* Body joint design experience of similar and dissimilar metals
* Structural analysis experience
* Automotive plant launch experience
* Knowledgeable in use of Unigraphics NX and Team Center
* Parametric design in a production automotive or aerospace environment
* Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
* Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
* Knowledgeable in regards to high strength steels, weld parameters and GD&T
