Founded in 1991, Disability Services of the Southwest (DSSW) is one of the largest providers of support services to people with disabilities and the elderly in the State of Texas. Our services include personal attendant services, nursing and therapies, as well as assistance in home modifications, adaptive aids, job coaching and supported employment.
DSSW is licensed by the state to provide a wide range of services to persons with disabilities including Community Living Assistance and Support Services (CLASS), Consumer Directed Services (CDS), Deaf-Blind with Multiple Disabilties (DBMD), as well as private pay care for the elderly and people with disabilities.
DSSW's programs are designed to assist persons with disabilities in achieving the greatest degree of independence possible within their community. The evaluation process by a nurse and the interview process by a program director and your independent case manager assure that an individual's needs are identified so that they can be met by the services available in each program.
All programs are driven by consumer choice and a people first philosophy.
Job Description:
Disability Services of the Southwest is seeking a Bilingual Assistant Program Director for our San Antonio branch office!
The Assistant Program Director supports our Program Directors and clinical team in the supervision of our field staff as well as ensuring services are being administered appropriately to our clients. Experience working with people with disabilities is required!
Responsibilities include:
- Assure the safety, health, and welfare of all program participants;
- Serve as a trainer and supervisor to all support staff;
- Perform the duties of a Program Director in their absence;
- Travel required for client visits and community activities as necessary;
- Any other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education:
- Proficiency in MS Office and spreadsheet software. (2010 version)
- A Bachelor's degree in Social Work or other relevant field and two (2) years' experience in community programs for people with disabilities, OR
- High School diploma/equivalent with three-five (3-5) years experience in the delivery of services and support to persons with related conditions or similar disabilities.
- Case Management experience preferred, but not required.
- Home health experience a plus.
- Experience with CLASS, CBA, DBMD, PHC, or DADS a huge plus.
