Job Description
This position will make significant contributions to the total non-labor expense management initiatives of Mayo Clinic, Mayo Health System, and member organizations of the Upper Midwest Consolidated Services Center (UMCSC). Generally supports a Mayo Clinic book of business in excess of $20 million. Complete management oversight responsibility for a product category or multiple categories, such as pharmaceuticals, medical-surgical, non-medical surgical, IT, maintenance, repair and operations, laboratory, capital medical equipment, service and maintenance, evaluation agreements, consulting agreements, non-disclosure agreements, statements of work, material transfer agreements, and administrative/operational needs for supplies, equipment and services. Performs Contract review, analysis and negotiation including contracts associated with information technology including hardware, software, telecommunications and other technology-based products across all of Mayo. Ensures contract compliance for all legal issues for software products and analysis includes competitive pricing, total life cycle costs. Assists in the development of negotiation strategies, identifies areas of contract risk, offers alternatives for management of such risk, and provides business oriented contract alternatives. Provides contract guidance on contract business issues. Provides input to Foundation expense management initiatives. After contracts are negotiated and executed, the Sr Contract Portfolio Manager will be responsible for ongoing contract management (to determine necessity for amendments or extensions of contracts, compliance to contractual obligations, and/or termination) and administration, including change control management. Maintains all IT and telecommunications contract files as the central repository for all contracts. Participates in or represents SCM on appropriate Mayo-wide committees, subcommittees, and task forces (as necessary) and with Mayo's selected GPO and interfaces with the Legal Department, Systems and Procedures, Information Technology and Service areas, Materials departments, and Risk Management.. Develops a comprehensive portfolio of contracts/agreements to meet business needs for clinical practice, research, education and administration. Administers national contracts through the facilitation of competitive bids (or exceptions to), preparation of RFP/RFQ/Quotations, coordination of data collection, coordination of data analysis, negotiation and awarding of contracts, supplier performance analysis, while ensuring compliance with all Mayo policies and all other applicable rules, laws and regulations. Represents Mayo in contract dispute resolution with vendors. Collectively, the Sr Contract Portfolio Managers will work together to manage and administer contract portfolios to support an annual Mayo Clinic and Affiliated consolidated spend in excess of $3 billion. Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field Advanced degree/certification preferred. JD or applicable certification preferred. Minimum of eight (8) years' experience with increasing responsibility in negotiating, interpreting and establishing contracts and coordinating closely with legal counsel on contracting and procurement issues, including experience facilitating cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams.

Other Qualifications:
Experience with contracting and management of distribution agreements as well as impacts of healthcare payor agreements and restrictions such as Managed Care, Rebates and Employee Benefit Management. Demonstrated ability to negotiate deals with high complexity and risk. Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply contract law and category knowledge. Computer competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) required. Knowledge and use of materials management software required. Health care experience desired. Knowledge of appropriate products, services, and equipment as applicable to the area of responsibility. Skilled at developing a negotiation strategy and leading a negotiation team. Ability to interact and manage relationships with vendors and member organizations of UMCSC. Strong oral and written communication skills. In depth experience relevant to the responsibilities of role (e.g. Capital equipment, Pharmacy, IT).

License or Certification:
Relevant professional certification preferred (PMP, CMRP, LEAN Six Sigma, APICS)

Compensation Detail: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every two weeks is approximately $3,090 based on a full-time position.
