Description Job Posting Number: 25140BR Job Posting Title: RN Surgery Planner Job Posting Category: Nursing Work Site: MCHS - SE MN - Red Wing Department: Surgical Services Job Description The Registered Nurse performs both independent nursing and delegated medical functions for pre-surgical patients. The independent nursing includes assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care. The surgery nurse planner coordinates the delegation of patient care activities with other members of the health care team in the ambulatory care setting, the operating room and the hospital setting. The RN performs pre-op assessment and health history taking for the surgical patient, patient education, coordination of communicating the need for special equipment for the surgical case, and discharge planning. This RN is responsible for working collaboratively with other departments in the medical center that will be involved in the patients care. The RN will have an appointment template that will be used for scheduled visits and keeping on time, excellent customer service and team work are essential. The RN is responsible for performing these functions in accordance with policy, procedure, and professional practice guidelines.
