Job Description
Works with the Technical Specialist II, Technical Specialist Coordinator or the lab supervisor to provide direction for the technical operation of the laboratory, including operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays, and serves as an expert resource to support functions to the laboratory technologists. Will build laboratory tests, establish instrument interfaces, define new organisms codes, set rules for critical and semi-urgent test reporting, format and validate patient test reports, develop management reports for quality monitoring as required by regulatory agencies, validate software updates, develop LIS (laboratory information system)training and competency assessments for lab staff, and provide technical and troubleshooting support. Also responsible for culturing and identifying microorganisms, reading direct microscopic exams, molecular detection of pathogens, and susceptibility testing. (002453-41448)

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science (CLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, or a human biological science (An HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree) and 2 years laboratory experience in SCC SOFT laboratory software, culturing and identifying microorganisms, reading direct microscopic exams, molecular detection of pathogens, and susceptibility testing.

Other Qualifications:
This position will be responsible for Technical Specialist IM (Information Management) roles in the laboratory.
