The individual in this position will be responsible for the clinical aspects of our telehealth business. Responsibilities include:
 

The purpose of this job is to provide comprehensive clinical oversight for NowClinic, Optum's telehealth offering. The Medical Director supports development of an on-line care market place that will transform health care by leveraging technology to connect physicians and clinicians with consumers.  

1. Provide oversight for all aspects of clinical quality, including monitoring provider performance and assessing consumer and customer complaints.

2. From a clinical perspective, actively participate in building and maintaining the provider network by appropriately representing the product to the provider community and driving credentialing and credentialing, with the goal of offering a comprehensive, high quality telemedicine network with 24/7 availability.

3. Complete and maintain the program's clinical infrastructure, including overall clinical strategy and  best practice guidelines.

4. When appropriate, assist in representing the telehealth initiative before regulatory bodies and professional organizations. 

5. Medical Organizations- Acts as the primary thought leader with state medical associations, other government agencies, and internal government affairs to advance the legislation that is favorable to medicine practice in online care.

6. Network- Partner with network lead NowClinic network development strategy. This includes provider targeting, messaging and value proposition.  Be the face to external physician groups as the champion of the solution. This includes both fostering an ongoing relationship and ensuring that the key medical leaders are onboard prior to contracting. 

 





Requirements

Requirements:
 

Unrestricted MD or DO license

Board Certified in an ABMS or AOA specialty; certification in a primary care specialty is preferred

Five or more years clinical practice experience

Strong knowledge of managed care industry

Experience in network development and clinical quality management desirable

Previous experience in telehealth desirable, but not mandatory

Possession of a broad base of clinical knowledge and ability to effectively apply that knowledge within the healthcare business environment

 

Keen focus on results and overall customer needs and willingness to go the extra mile to meet and exceed stakeholder and customer expectations (e.g., meeting extremely tight deadlines)

 

Ability to work as a productive team member in a complex organization containing individuals with widely differing perspectives

 

Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

 

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, that will support interactions in multiple venues, both internal and external

 

Excellent leadership skills

 

Excellent analytical skills and willingness to make appropriate fact-based decisions
